For children today, there are endless opportunities to expose them to the amazing world. From indoor playgrounds to arts and crafts, sports to extracurricular activities, they can enjoy every kind of activity on a whole new level. However, there has never really been a special event where children with the special needs can play multiple games like other children all in one centralized area. In New Jersey, The Jefferson Township Recreation Department is offering its baseball Little League Challenger Division for the special needs youth. Scott Luker, a resident of Jefferson Township is the Director of the league who is striving hard efforts to encourage more and more children with special needs to show their talent.

The Jefferson Township Recreation Department again organized it this spring following successful programs since 2007. Scott Luker says, “Organizing youth baseball leagues for the youth with special needs inviting families and fans alike in one convenient location is a great social activity.”

In recent times, The Challenger Division has removed the barriers that keep children off the baseball field and being treated just like all the other kids. In fact, the players have the opportunity to participate in Tee Ball, Coach-Pitch, or Player-Pitch levels with the option to use the “buddy” system for assistance on the field.
